Ewa Kujawska graduated in 1982 with a Masters Degree in Painting, Graphics and Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Art in Wroclaw, Poland.
Between 1982 and 1986 she lived and worked in Algeria, North Africa, where many excursions through the Sahara Desert have strongly influenced her creative development. In 1986 Ewa came to Canada where she has been living since, working primarily in oil, acrylics and her own mixed-media techniques. Here, like in Africa, she takes inspiration in the beauty of nature by taking photographs, painting and creating her mixed-media works.

Her works have been exhibited in Canada, Algeria, France, Germany, Morocco, Poland and USA by galleries, private collectors and corporations (i.e.Head Office of BRE Bank - Warsaw, Poland; Cleland Jardine Ltd., Kanata, Canada); they have gained many awards and distinctions.

"...underneath their apparent state of calm and fancy, Ewa Kujawska's paintings reveal an inner life in colours, movements, emotions. Yet, they remain like the artist herself - gentle and refined."(Sylvia Cleinge - Calligrammes Gallery)

In 2001 Ewa was selected by CARFAC Ontario and Toronto Artscape to attend the International Gibraltar Point Artist Residency Program. She is a member of the Canadian Artists Representation - CARFAC Ontario, Arts Court of Ottawa, Ottawa Art Gallery and is represented in Ottawa by Calligrammes Gallery.

"Art is an extension of life. When you feel art as a spiritual necessity, you cannot separate it from life. Art is a self-discovery, a state of mind and a state of being. In recent years my work has become more 'abstract'. For me, this means getting closer to my own truths and closer to the 'crux of the matter' in my works. More recently meditation became part of my daily routine. Meditation provides me with new intensity and depth along with the ability to be more 'abstract' in my works. My art is still concerned with the world, just in a new way. Life is a continual process; it is a movement, and art... is an extension of life." - Ottawa, May 2004
