I am an Artist currently living and working in Ottawa, Canada. I enjoy capturing a moment in time so that the memories can be shared visually. My work is described as "contemporary realistic depictions of people and their surroundings". I frequently choose to paint children at play, or the effects of the seasons on the landscape around us. Portrait and figure painting is of particular importance to me. My love of drawing people prompted me to pursue the study of art at the University of Toronto where I received a bachelor of Art Education and at Sheridan College where I completed a Creative Arts Diploma. Throughout my professional career, I continue to participate in drawing workshops whenever possible. Although photographs are an important tool in completing portraits, this artist maintains that working from the model is the best way to improve not only your drawing skills but your visual skills as well. I am a founding member and past Chairperson of the board of management of the Kanata Civic Art Gallery as well as a past president of the Kanata Art Club. My choices for media include oils, acrylic, pastels, and watercolours. My paintings of children at play have been used in publications such as community telephone books and city activity guides. Originals hang in public collections such as the City of Ottawa and Kanata's Seniors Center, and private collections throughout Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and the Caribbean. I recently started producing giclees of some of these works. Giclees (pronounced gee-clays) are high quality reproductions using archival products that give a higher permanence than the more common photo-mechanical methods of reproducing art.
